Destin Harborfront Condos

The sun glistens over the tranquil waters of the Destin harbor as the fishing fleet returns from a full day on the water. The docks are crowded with onlookers trying to catch a glimpse of the days catch but the smiles of the anglers leave little to the imagination. As the deckhands display the snapper, amberjack, and grouper, on the weathered wood benches; a few lucky people are thinking “I’m glad we own a Destin Harborfront Condo”.

The Destin Harbor Boardwalk, finished in 2012, is approximately a quarter of mile long and runs alongside many fine restaurants and retail stores. If you are looking to have the fish of your choice grilled, fried, or blackened, the Destin Harbor is the place to be.

Destin Harborfront Condos are most suitable for those looking for a second home or permanent residence and boating is central to their everyday life. Condos on the Destin Harbor have boat-slips, swimming pools, and fitness rooms. The harborside balconies are great for spotting dolphins or trout swimming in the shallows around the docks.

Some of the more popular Harborfront Condos in Destin include:

Grand Harbor was built in 2000 and has 47 units. Roughly one third come with boat slips that can accommodate boats from 30 ft. to 70 ft. The units range in size from 2200 sf to penthouses with more than 5000 sf. There is one covered parking spot for each unit.

Destin Yacht Club was built in 1984 and has 49 units. Most units have boat slips that can accommodate boats from 30-70 feet. The penthouses have 3800 sf. There is no covered parking at the Destin Yacht Club.

Emerald Grande is the newest harbor condo and features the best amenities available including spas, restaurants, and fitness facilities. Boat slips are not available with the units but can be rented at nearby marinas.

Harbor Lights has 39 units and was built in 2007. Most units have an enclosed garage and climate controlled storage.

Harbor Landing consists of two buildings with 82 units and was built in 2006. This complex was built to the latest building codes including concrete walls with reinforced rebar and impact resistant windows. About one third of the units come with boat slips that have lifts and will accommodate 30 ft. boats. Harbor Landing also has deeded beach access.

Marbella Condos are also located on the Destin Harbor. His mediterranean inspired beauty features a marina, granite countertops, palatial annointments, harborside swimming pool, and fitness room.

The harbor is located on the West end of Destin and is just minutes to the east pass. It is bordered by hwy 98 to the north and Holiday Isle to the South.

Bankowned Foreclosure Spotlight

There are many great choices for real estate in Destin and foreclosures are still very popular. In 2010, most sales of condos were either Destin Foreclosures or a Short Sale. Today, things have changed and distressed sales make up a much smaller portion of total activity. A foreclosure is a property owned by the bank and the negotiation process is fairly straight forward.

Our spotlight this week focuses on a Silver Beach Condo, unit 1401. This fantastic 4 bedroom condo has 2000 square foot, is sold unfurnished, and listed at $929,000. As you enter the condo, you will be immediately impressed with the high ceilings, creative lay-out, and crown moldings. The living room floors hare hardwood and the kitchen has corian countertops. The inviting five piece master bath has a tub with view of the Gulf and the walk-in closet is large enough for all your favorite outfits. This unit has expansive views looking to the east and south. Luxury Silver Beach condos are in high demand and this unit is waiting for a new owner.

Silver beach is a luxury condo in Destin Florida. Amenities include beachside swimming pool, covered parking, fitness room, extra storage, coded doors, semi-private elevators, and spacious common areas. The location address is 1050 Hwy 98, Destin, FL 32541. Silver Beach is considered one of Destin's most prestigious luxury condominium addresses because of its quality construction, large unit sizes, amenities, and proximity to popular tourist attractions.

Destin Spring Break- 5 Things to do

If you live up North, the winter has been LONG. Fortunately, the weather and water are warming in Destin and sunshine is the norm. Spring break, the 2014 edition is well under way. Running from March 7 - April 18 this year, spring break in Destin is longer than normal. If you haven't made reservations yet, there is still plenty of time.

If you find yourself in Destin, there are many great things to do. My favorite 5 are:

1. Go Snorkeling - Park down on Gulfshore drive across from the entrance to O'steen beach. Walk down to the Jetty's and you are at Destin's foremost snorkeling destination. P.S. Don't forget to bring your gear.

2. Rent a Pontoon and spend the day cruising and checking out Destin harborfront condos or hanging out on Crab Island.

3. Go to the Beach -Spring Break Central is found at the Whale's Tail in Walton County. If you want to avoid the crowds, check out Henderson Beach or take a walk along Crystal Beach.

4. Play a round of Golf - We have several championship courses suitable for any skill level.

Stunning Coastal Dune Lakes

Coastal Dune Lakes

Stunningly beautiful are my first thoughts when asked about our coastal dune lakes. These natural masterpieces are only found, in North America, along the Beaches of South Walton and we are blessed with 15 lakes that have over 26 miles of coastline. This map provides the names and locations of each.

What makes these lakes unique? They share an intermittent connection with the Gulf of Mexico called an outfall. Since the lakes are fed by run-off, rain, and surge, the outfall provides a means for flood control, draining excess water into the Gulf. The outfall also provides a pathway for salt water to enter during high tide. The result is a diverse eco system.

Recreational Activities along the Coastal Dune lakes

Outdoor enthusiasts flock to the areas around Coastal Dune Lakes and enjoy a myriad of activities. On a sunny day, you will see a flotilla of stand up paddle boards (SUP’s), kayaks, and canoes on the sparkling water. Many are seeking a few tranquil moments with nature while others are enjoying a vigorous workout.

Since many of the lakes are surrounded by State Parks, there are miles and miles of hiking trails. The Timpoochee Trail encompasses all lakes between Stallworth and Camp Creek and is great way to view several of these gems on one outing.

The lakes contain both fresh and saltwater fish and anglers frequently catch panfish, catfish, bream, redfish, trout, and other species. Light action tackle is recommended as most fish are less than 7 lbs.

Topsail Hill State Park is home to three of the most pristine and undeveloped lakes and has limited camping facilities. They also have direct access to one of the most private beaches in South Walton. Make your reservations early if you plan on staying here.

Grayton Beach State Park also has camping and provides access to Western Lake. You can rent canoes and paddle boards at the WaterColor recreation center on Western Lake or you may choose to take in the views from a bicycle.

If you are looking for new experiences during your next visit to Scenic 30A or just looking for a relaxing outing, be sure and check out our coastal dune lakes.
