We pulled some great shots from the Genealogical Society of Okaloosa County that depict the early beginnings of Destin the surrounding towns and will be using them for a Flashback Friday feature on our website.

This particular photo is of the Brooks Bridge that connects Highway U.S. Route 98 over Santa Rosa Sound between downtown Fort Walton Beach and Okaloosa Island. The original 1935 lift bridge was re-constructed in 1965 and increased to four lanes.

A study for a new replacement for the Brooks Bridge is currently underway.

If anyone has any vintage Destin photos they would like featured on our #FlashbackFriday blog post, just send them in via our comments below and include a brief description.
