Bayous are inlets from the Choctawhatchee bay that are characterized by deep water, silt bottoms, and are protected from winds and storms. Destin Bayou homes are desirable for these features and allow owners to dock large boats and other watercraft while also providing a great starting point to kayak, fish, or paddle board. Bayous also hold bait, which is essential to a good fishing trip. Homes near Indian Bayou Golf Club, FLIndian Bayou

Indian Bayou is another large bayou with homes that line each side. The bayou is navigable year round except for a few weeks in the winter. Even then, boats less than 30 feet in length don’t experience many issues. Indian Bayou homes are in high demand.

Since Indian bayou narrows at its extremities to little more than a canal, buyers can purchase homes in these locations at much reduced prices. You still get great dockage but the views aren’t as expansive. Indian Bayou homes can be accessed from Indian Bayou Dr. North, or from the neighborhood of Indian Bayou. Jone's Bayou real estate, Destin FLJones Bayou

Jone’s Bayou is a little further east and is located in Kelly Plantation. Homes of more than 15,000 square feet have been sold here in Destin’s only gated bayou home neighborhood. Marler’s Bayou

Marler’s Bayou is the closest bayou to the East pass, but it’s also the smallest and most shallow bayou in Destin. The inlet is impassable at certain times of the year. However, the water in the bayou is reasonably deep and will accommodate decently sized boats. You can see homes on Marler’s Bayou from a small area of Calhoun Street.
