Destin Deep Water Dockage

If you have a large boat or sailboat with a deep draft, the harbor, Holiday Isle, and most of our bayous are your best bet. Many homes in Destin have multiple boat slips on their property and it’s common to see jet skis, deck boats, fishing boats, and cruisers in the same backyard.

Boat lifts are common for vessels that are less than 30 ft. These are nice to have and prevent barnacle growth on the hull and keep the waves from slamming the boat into rocks and docks. Docks made from trex or synthetic materials are also desirable. Most well equipped docks will have a stainless steel fish cleaning station, electrical power connections and fresh water for cleaning. Most boat slips homes in Destin will contain these essentials.

Destin is a peninsula in Northwest Florida characterized by gorgeous beaches and luxury boat slip homes. The first settlers arrived in Destin in the 1840’s and recognized the unique beauty and abundant fish stocks. Destin relied primarily on fishing and agriculture until tourism started to take over in the 1970’s. Over the years, Destin boat slip homes have transformed from fish camps and shacks to luxury getaways.

Most homes with deep water and boat slips are located on the Western Edge of Destin near the East Pass. In fact, the pass was cut in this location because of its proximity to Destin’s deep water bayous which cut down on navigation times from home port to the Gulf of Mexico. Since the pass is man made, dredging is required to ensure that it remains navigable.
