If you own a Destin condo or vacation home, you probably already have deeded access. However, if you just visit us occasionally, you may be wondering where to find a public beach.
Fortunately, here are thirteen public beach access points in Destin. Eleven of these are owned by the city, one by the state, and one by the county. They are primarily located on Holiday Isle, Restaurant Row, and Crystal Beach.
Public Beach Access in Crystal Beach
There 7 public accesses in Crystal Beach and all are entered from Scenic Hwy 98 (AKA old Hwy 98). The Pompano, Crystal Beach Drive, Shirah, Barracuda, and Tarpon accesses are located at the end of those named streets. There is limited parking available on Scenic 98 but you have to look very closely to find it. There are no bathrooms at these beach accesses.
James Lee Park and the Shore at Crystal Beach both have parking areas, a pavilion, picnic tables, public bathrooms and showers. The beach access is via a wooden walk-over.
Restaurant Row
There are three public beach accesses on Restaurant Row. Silver Shells, Calhoun, and June White Decker parks are all located within 100 yards of each other. Amenities include: Swimming, Bike Rack, Public Bathrooms, Shower area, and a Public Restaurant. There is plenty of parking in the public lot east of Sterling Shores.
Holiday Isle
Norieggo Point & O’Steen Public Beach are both located on Holiday Isle. Neither have restrooms or much parking. The views are spectacular though and you can access the harbor or Jetty’s from these locations.Â
Henderson Beach State Park
Henderson Bach State Park is the largest of all beaches in Destin. It is also the only one that charges a fee for use. Amenities include: Parking area, Pavilion, Picnic area, Picnic tables, and Playground, and Bathrooms.
