Sales numbers for the first quarter of 2014 for all Destin Real Estate are in. Â Destin is an upscale beach community in Northwest Florida, also known as the Emerald Coast, that is very popular with tourists and those looking to enjoy resort lving. Â The original settlers in the area took advantage of the abundant fishery located off the Destin coast and made their living by fishing. Â Gradually, the white sandy beaches and turquoise waters attracted pleasure seekers looking to relax and take in the scenery. In the early 1970's the area had become so popular that a local developer built the first high rise condo in Destin. Today, real estate in Destin is complex and includes transactions involving homes, condos, and lots.
Two weeks ago, I got a call from a couple who were interested in beachfront homes for sale in Destin, FL. They had gotten my name from mutual friends who I had helped to find a home to a few years ago. After spending the last 40 years building their business, it was finally time to enjoy the rewards of their work. The level of thought that they had put into this was quite amazing. They shared many stories with me about how they would discuss, with each other, their ultimate dream of living on the beautiful white sands of Destin.
Early visitors came to Destin to fish. After all, we have plenty of snapper, grouper, amberjack, swordfish, tuna and other delicious species for everyone. I can only imagine these guys coming in from a long day of fishing, boxes full of fish, the turquoise waters glistening under their boat, and the beautiful and undisturbed white sandy beaches greeting them as they entered the East Pass. What a feeling that must have been!
