Destin home sales decreased slightly when compared to last year. However, much of the change can be attributed to new lending rules that delayed up to 20% of our closings. While the average sales price in Destin was $888,000, over half the homes sold, closed below $443,000.

Homes in 30A East, which includes the neighborhoods of WaterColor, Seaside, WaterSound, Alys Beach, and Rosemary Beach; posted an impressive average sales price at $1,051,548.

For those living in who haven't registered for "Code Red, this is the emergency alert program in Okaloosa County. You can find it by going to the emergency enrollment web page and fill out the form to be notified by an emergency response team in the event of a critical community alert.

Walton County Emergency Management has implemented a new emergency alert program that will advise you in the event of an alert of some sort. Whether it's a boil water advisory, missing child report or a full scale evacuation, at least you'll be in the know.

Allegiant Airlines has additional flights to DestinAllegiant Air has announced they will be adding more direct flights between Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport and the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. This increased service should be commencing on May 20 for Cincinnati and MidAmerica St. Louis Airport on June 2.

Advance Bookings Hit Record Levels

Apparently advanced bookings for these new flights broke records at Allegiant. It seems that the Destin / Fort Walton area is especially popular as a vacation destination with the St. Louis and Cincinnati markets.

Get ready folks, it's estimated that this new service will result in about 23,000 additional visitors to the Destin area each year.

2015 has been an outstanding year for owning a rental property in Destin. We're still waiting to see the typical drop off in tourism that usually happens in September and October, because this year, it hasn't happened.
