Upgrades to the Baytowne Marina at the Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort are looking good for the 2021 Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic.

The Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is a sought after destination for offshore fishing. The location couldn't be more appropriate. Overlooking Choctawhatchee Bay, boaters have a short ride to the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Home to the "big money", Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic, this popular event attracts sport fishermen from all over the world.

Within the resort, the Baytowne Marina currently has over 123 active slips that can accommodate vessels up to 140 feet. You can gas up your boat, acquire short or long term dockage, or use the personal marina concierge to book a tee time, or make a reservation at your favorite restaurant.

The Bayside Marina is currently approved for 124 additional slips which would almost double the marina's capacity. This would mean more dockage space for both medium and larger yachts.

Here is a summary of some of the changes currently unfolding, and working towards a June completion date. The goal is to increase the capacity to accommodate even more competing boats for the 2021 Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic event.

B Dock: Two more piers will be added, extending its capacity for mooring large yachts.

E Dock: 300 feet long with 22 spots for boats up to 27 feet long, with 20 of them on lifts.

F & G: These will be completed in phases, with a final length of 260 feet long, and room for 14 slips in each. F will be able to accommodate boats up to 45 feet on lifts, while G will have wet slips for boats up to 55 feet long. Upon build out, F & G Docks may be extended up to an additional 100 feet.

H Dock: 14 new slips will be added to accommodate yachts up to 90 feet long.

Updates to the power capabilities with Docks A and B on a separate electrical transformer and a separate independent grid for the balance of the docks.

FAQs: 2021 Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic

What are the changes for the 2021 Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic Event?

When boats return to weigh their catch, they no longer have to idle, waiting for their turn at the scales. With the new system, they can go straight to their slips, put their feet up, and wait for the team to meet them with carts and accompany them to the scales.

The marlin catches will be treated a bit differently. Boaters will go straight to A Dock, the fish will be off-loaded with a boom and taken straight to the scales.

Spectators will love the new jumbotron set up to watch the actual weigh-in and follow the action at the docks.

The sponsor village will be back with events as normal.
