Condo & Townhome Sales in Destin & 30A
Overall, the first quarter in 2017 had favorable results with Gulf Coast townhomes up 17%, and condos up 32%, with Destin selling 28% more condo real estate than 2016. Townhome sales were huge in Fort Walton Beach (up 34%) and Miramar/Sandestin (up 150%).
Single-Family Home Sales in Destin & 30A
Single-family homes on Florida's Gulf coast were up 9% in the first quarter 2017, with huge gains in 30A East (up 40%), and Destin (up 23%).
30A Luxury Home Sales
Rosemary Beach luxury home sales proved the front runner for 30A neighborhoods with an impressive 1st quarter result. Fourteen homes homes sold, an increase of 27% from 2016, and an average sale price of $2,686,250.

This real estate nightmare involves two sales of the SAME HOME on the SAME DAY, combined with some sloppy paperwork by the Title Company. Subsequently, the whole thing fell apart, just like a house of cards. I'm not trying to scare anyone, but really felt that this story needed to be told. It's something that home buyers, sellers or other agents need to be aware of.
Destin home sales in May 2016 reflected an active market with almost $30,000,000 in sales volume. The average price was $596,972 and houses closed at an impressive 94% of selling price. Sales of luxury homes on 30A have been red hot with median prices approaching $2,000,000 in both Rosemary Beach and Seaside. WaterColor was extremely popular with 55 homes sold at a median price of $1,275,000. WaterSound came in at a close fourth with 37 sales averaging only 97 days on the market and closing at 98% of the asking price.

Destin is an upscale beach community in Northwest Florida, also known as the Emerald Coast, that is very popular with tourists and those looking to enjoy resort lving. The original settlers in the area took advantage of the abundant fishery located off the Destin coast and made their living by fishing. Gradually, the white sandy beaches and turquoise waters attracted pleasure seekers looking to relax and take in the scenery. In the early 1970's the area had become so popular that a local developer built the first high rise condo in Destin. Today, real estate in Destin is complex and includes transactions involving homes, condos, and lots.

The docks are crowded with onlookers trying to catch a glimpse of the days catch but the smiles of the anglers leave little to the imagination. As the deckhands display the snapper, amberjack, and grouper, on the weathered wood benches; a few lucky people are thinking “I’m glad we own a Destin Harborfront Condo”.

Running from March 7 - April 18 this year, spring break in Destin is longer than normal. If you haven't made reservations yet, there is still plenty of time.
