Marlin fishing and Blue Marlin Classic

Anticipation is building for the 16th annual Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic at Sandestin Resort. Last year they set a record with 85 boats registered, this year is expected to be even higher. The Blue Marlin Classic is far from a local event, attracting entries throughout south eastern United States.

Changes to the 2018 event include a new minimum length requirement at 107 inches. This is an effort to help conserve some of the smaller, juvenile marlin. The Blue Marlin Classic runs from June 20-24, but the actual fishing begins at noon June 21 ending on the 23rd. Boats take off from Destin Pass after the horn blasts. Weigh-ins take place Friday and Saturday evenings.

Destin jetties

White sand and turquoise waters provide stunningly beautiful views for beach goers, fishermen, and snorkelers alike. Bring a couple of rods, catch some fish, or at the least, you’ll have the inspiration for a story about the “one that got away.” Ready for a little extra adventure, try your hand at scuba diving, snorkeling or boating. “What is this wonderful hidden gem of a destination,” you say. It's the Destin Jetties, of course.

Located in the Florida Panhandle in the city of Destin, the jetties protect the East Pass Channel from the encroaching sands of the Gulf of Mexico. Constructed in 1969 by the US Corp of Engineers using car-sized boulders, the twin jetties also form an artificial reef that attracts an amazing variety of wildlife species.

The Holiday Isle Lifestyle

A home or property on Holiday Isle in Destin FL is the preferred choice for those seeking a quieter atmosphere, and close to the Gulf of Mexico. A boating utopia, this three-mile long peninsula is bordered by beach, harbor and pass. Man-made canals weave throughout the neighborhoods, leaving no shortage of private backyard docks. The East Pass is just a few minutes away by boat. Crab Island, the harbor, and other pleasure destinations are also close by.

Holiday Isle waterfront home

There are only a handful of commercial establishments close to the entry on Holiday Isle, which greatly reduces traffic. It's not uncommon for Holiday Isle residents to leave the car parked at home and hop on a water taxi to their favorite harbor restaurant.
